ArtWall (Video Wall with BrightSign)

The ArtWall feature allows you to transform multiple displays into a large synchronized video wall, even with irregular layouts.

Based on BrightSign’s BrightWall technology, it lets you split a single piece of content (image or video) across multiple screens, creating a high-impact visual effect.

1. Prerequisites

  • BrightSign players compatible with BrightWall (XD, XT, or 4K series), up to Series 4.
  • All players must be connected to the same local network (Ethernet recommended).
  • Each display must have a dedicated BrightSign player connected via HDMI.
  • Latest BrightSign firmware installed.
  • A dedicated layout for the video wall, configured in the Pharmadigital dashboard.

2. Master and Client Concept

  • Master Player:
The main player that manages content synchronization.
  • Client Players:
Secondary players that receive commands from the Master and play the corresponding portion of the content.

Each player therefore manages a “slice” of the overall content.

3. Configuration in the Dashboard

  1. Go to Player → ArtWall and click Add.
  2. Enter a name.
  3. Assign a domain.
  4. Specify the video wall grid in rows and columns (e.g., 2x2, 3x3).
  5. Specify the border size.
  6. Once added, click Manage Players.
  7. Select each area and assign the correct position (e.g., Row 1, Column 2).
  8. Set which player will be the Master.

4. Configuration on BrightSign Players

  • Upload the configuration automatically generated by the Pharmadigital dashboard onto each player.
  • Insert the microSD card into the player and power it on.
  • After the first boot, the player will automatically synchronize with the Master.
note

If a player does not sync, make sure all devices are connected to the same local network and no firewall/switch is blocking UDP communication between players.

5. Content Playback

  • Any content assigned to the ArtWall layout will be split and displayed across all screens.
  • Both images and high-resolution videos are supported (recommended 4K or higher for large video walls).
  • Transitions and content timelines remain synchronized across all players.
  • ArtWall content is managed by the Master player.
  • Only images and videos are supported.

6. Troubleshooting

  • A screen shows black or is not synced

    • Check that the player is online and assigned to the grid.
    • Verify the network connection.
    • Restart the Client player.
  • The content looks distorted

    • Check resolution settings on each display.
    • Make sure the ArtWall grid in the dashboard matches the physical display layout.
  • The video wall does not start

    • Ensure the Master player is online and configured.
    • Verify that assigned content is in a BrightSign-supported format.
