Usage Statistics – Data Consumption

The Usage Statistics section of Pharmadigital includes Data Consumption, useful for monitoring the traffic generated by your players.

What Data Consumption Is

Data consumption refers to the amount of traffic exchanged between the player and the Pharmadigital platform.
Specifically, it represents the download of multimedia content and resources stored in the Pharmadigital cloud, which players download for local playback.

⚠️ Data consumption is not the same as playback time but the actual traffic needed to download content.

Purpose

This section lets you:

  • Monitor the data usage generated by your players.
  • Analyze traffic based on a selected time period.
  • Identify peaks in traffic due to new uploads or updates.

How to Check Statistics

  1. Log into the dashboard.
  2. Select Usage Statistics from the Player menu.
  3. Use filters at the top to choose the time range.
  4. A graph will show traffic over the selected period.
  5. At the bottom, see details per player, with MB/GB downloaded.

Data Consumption Overview

Data Interpretation

  • Stable values and cached content → player uses little data, downloading only updates/new resources.
  • High peaks → player downloaded new content or a heavy channel.
  • No traffic → no updates occurred or the player failed to connect.

Troubleshooting

  • Excessive consumption?
    • Check if uploaded content is large (e.g., HD videos).
    • Optimize multimedia resources (reduce size of images/videos).
  • No data recorded?
    • Ensure the player is online.
    • Verify the selected period filter.
  • Unexpected peaks?
    • Check if channels were republished or heavy content uploaded.
