Installation on Philips Displays
This guide is dedicated to Philips displays designed for digital signage, equipped with the Android operating system. Philips “SoC” (System on Chip) displays are an all-in-one solution, ideal for professional and continuous installations.
1. Preliminary Checks
Before installation, make sure that:
- Internet connection: the device can access the network with the correct configuration (Ethernet or Wi-Fi, proxy if needed).
- Android version: must be 7.1 or later.
- Existing configurations: ensure there are no previous settings and, if necessary, perform a factory reset of the display.
- Date, time, and time zone: must be set correctly.
- Firmware: confirm that the display is updated to the latest available version.
2. Preparing the Installation File
- Download the APK file of Pharmadigital.
- Copy it onto a USB stick formatted in FAT32 or exFAT.
3. Application Installation
- Insert the USB stick into the available port on the display.
- Using the remote control, press the sequence Home → 1 → 8 → 8 → 8 to access the Android menu.
- From the Android menu, select Apps.
- Open the File Manager (or “Explorer”) app.
- Select the USB Drive icon.
- Open the Pharmadigital APK file to start the installation.
- If prompted, allow installation from unknown sources.
- Once completed, confirm the installation and return to the Android main menu.
Note: For Android 10 or later, a specific permission must be granted to allow the app to start automatically at boot. If the permission is not granted within the given time, the app will still launch, but you will need to enable it manually in Settings → Permissions.
4. Auto-Start Configuration
- From the Android menu, go to Settings.
- Select Signage Display → Source setting → Custom App.
- Set Pharmadigital as the custom app and press Save.
This ensures that Pharmadigital will automatically launch when the display is powered on.
5. Player Activation
- Launch the Pharmadigital app after installation.
- The screen will display an activation phrase, which must be entered into the dashboard.
- Complete the device registration in the dashboard as an Android device, selecting Philips when requested.
6. Verify Date and Time
- Exit the Android menu and press the Home button to access the monitor settings.
- Select Advanced Option → Date & Time and confirm the settings are correct.
Troubleshooting
- The app does not start at boot: Check the auto-start configuration and the required permission (Android 10+).
- Network issues: Verify Ethernet/Wi-Fi connectivity, proxy settings, and DNS (recommended: 8.8.8.8).
- No image displayed: Check the input source and resolution settings.
