Installing on Samsung Tizen Displays

This guide walks you step by step through activating the Pharmadigital player on Samsung displays running the Tizen operating system.

Samsung Tizen displays include professional digital signage features and allow installation of Pharmadigital via URL Launcher.

1. Preliminary checks​

Before installation, verify:

  • Internet connection: make sure the device can access the network by correctly configuring the network settings, via Ethernet or Wi-Fi, including any proxy settings.
  • Tizen version: must be 4.0 or later.
  • Existing configurations: check that no previous configurations are present and, if necessary, perform a monitor reset.

2. Initial display setup​

On first boot, complete the guided setup by following these steps:

  1. Turn on the Samsung Tizen display.
  2. Select the desired language and press OK to continue.
  3. Select the display orientation.
  4. Disable Auto Power Off mode by selecting Off.
  5. Confirm network access or configure the Wi-Fi connection, then press OK.
  6. Set the correct local date and time for the display and press OK.
  7. Select start from URL launcher
  8. Select URL Launcher and press OK.
  9. Enter or choose a display name and press OK.

3. Application installation​

Once the initial setup is complete:

  1. Press the Home / Content button on the remote control.
  2. Select URL Launcher Settings.
  3. Select Install Web App.
  4. Enter the application URL that you can find here.

    Note: if you enter the address manually, the letter h in http must be lowercase.

  5. Press OK to confirm the installation.

Important: enter the URL inside URL Launcher and not in the device's web browser.

  1. Once the download is complete, the installation will start automatically.

4. Updating the application​

The update mode for Pharmadigital depends on the URL configured in URL Launcher.

URL with explicit version​

If a URL with an explicit version number is used — available here — the display will install only that specific version of the application.

In this case, updates are not detected automatically. To install a new version, you must manually update the URL configured on the monitor, replacing it with the one containing the new version number.

URL without explicit version​

If instead a URL for automatic updates is used — available here — the display can automatically download the latest available version.

In this scenario, the update behavior depends on the Samsung Tizen system and the monitor's management logic.

Note: for precise control over the installed version, using a URL with an explicit version is recommended. To automatically keep the monitor updated to the latest available release, the generic URL can be used instead.

Troubleshooting​

The installation URL does not work​

Check the following:

  • make sure you entered the URL in URL Launcher and not in the display's web browser;
  • if you are using a URL with an HTTPS prefix and the installation fails, try using HTTP;
  • check that the display actually has internet access;
  • verify that network restrictions or firewalls are not blocking the application from loading.

The app does not start correctly​

  • verify that URL Launcher was selected correctly;
  • check that the saved configuration includes the correct timezone;
  • verify that no automatic screen protections are active.

Orientation or rotation issues​

  • verify that the initial monitor orientation is consistent with the physical installation.
