Installation on Sharp/NEC Displays

This guide is dedicated to Sharp/NEC professional displays designed for digital signage, equipped with the Android operating system (SoC). These devices represent a reliable all-in-one solution for corporate and retail installations.

1. Preliminary Checks

Before installation, make sure that:

  • Internet connection: the device can access the network with the correct configuration (Ethernet or Wi-Fi, proxy if needed).
  • Android version: must be 7.1 or later.
  • Monitor reset: ensure there are no existing configurations and perform a reset of the display if necessary.
  • Date, time, and time zone: verify they are correct, as wrong settings may prevent activation or content playback.
  • Firmware: confirm the display firmware is updated to the latest available version.

2. Preparing the Installation File

  1. Download the APK file of Pharmadigital.
  2. Copy it onto a USB stick formatted in FAT32 or exFAT.

3. Application Installation

  1. Insert the USB stick into the display.
  2. Launch the pre-installed File Explorer (or “File Manager”) app.
  3. Select the USB Drive icon.
  4. Open the Pharmadigital APK file to start the installation.
  5. If prompted, allow installation from unknown sources.
  6. Once completed, confirm the installation and return to the Android menu.

Note: For Android 10 or later, a specific permission must be granted to allow the app to start automatically at boot. If the permission is not granted within the given time, the app will still start, but you will need to enable it manually under Settings → Permissions.

4. Player Activation

  1. Launch the Pharmadigital app after installation.
  2. The screen will display an activation phrase, which must be entered into the dashboard.
  3. Complete the device registration in the dashboard as an Android device, selecting Sharp/NEC when requested.

Troubleshooting

  • The app does not start at boot: Check that the required permission has been granted (Android 10+).
  • Network issues: Verify Ethernet or Wi-Fi connection, proxy settings, and DNS configuration (recommended: 8.8.8.8).
  • No image or content playback: Check the input source and display resolution settings.
