Zone Synchronization

The Zone Synchronization (SyncZone) feature allows you to coordinate the playback of contents assigned to different zones of a layout, so that multiple contents (e.g., videos, images, and texts related to the same “category” or “city”) are displayed together and in sync.

How it works

Suppose you want to display information about different cities (e.g., New York, Rome, Paris), each consisting of videos, images, and texts. With a three-zone layout (Video, Side, Crawl), you can configure all the contents related to one city to be displayed simultaneously in their respective zones.
When the zone with the longest content finishes playback, all zones move forward together to the next group (e.g., the next city).

This mode is ideal for scenarios where you want to ensure that videos, images, and texts linked to each other remain synchronized across the different layout zones.

How to configure it

  1. Prepare the channels:
Create a channel for each content group you want to synchronize (for example, one channel per city, including the related videos, images, and texts).

  2. Assign the channels to the player:
Assign the created channels to the BrightSign player.

  3. Enable synchronization:
In the player settings, enable the Zone Synchronization mode.

The player will automatically assign the contents to the layout zones based on their type:

    • Videos → Video zone
    • Images → Side zone (or another compatible zone)
    • Texts → Crawl zone (or text zone)

When the “master” zone (the one with the longest content) finishes playback, all zones advance simultaneously.

info

This feature is only available on BrightSign Pro and supports the synchronization of Videos, Images, and Texts.

Advanced content-to-zone assignment

If the layout has multiple zones of the same type (e.g., two image zones), you can customize assignment rules to decide which content is displayed in each zone.

To define these rules:

  1. Go to the player settings and select Content assignment rules in the “Playback options” section.
  2. Edit the rule for each zone by choosing among the available options:
    • Automatic assignment
    • By tag (contents with specific tags)
    • Name starts with...
    • Name ends with...
    • Name contains...
    • By content type
    • Custom (advanced criteria)

The rules are not case-sensitive and allow granular control over which content is displayed in each layout zone.

Benefits of zone synchronization

  • Coordinated and professional experience
  • Maximum flexibility for creating complex scenarios
  • Automatic management of transitions between content groups
